Frequently Asked Questions

What is Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT)?

SFT focuses on your preferred future rather than on problems of the past or present. It is Goal orientated and practical and recognises your resources and strengths that will contribute to the solution. We will always seek to move from a problem to a solution and enable you to make those desired changes.

What is Hypnotherapy?

It is important to understand that hypnosis and hypnotherapy is not the same thing. Hypnosis has been around forever and involves going into a trance. Hypnotherapy uses the hypnotic trance to help you achieve a goal or create a positive change in your thinking to resolve a problem. Hypnotherapy utilises hypnosis for therapeutic purposes to encourage your unconscious mind to find solutions to problems.

Can I be hypnotised?

Yes, virtually anyone can be hypnotised as long as they wish to be. The exceptions are very young children who have not developed their concentration skills and sometimes the mentally impaired.

Will I do things against my will?

Definitely not! The Therapist helps you to enter a relaxed state using guided imagery but does not control your actions. You will not rush round a stage like a headless chicken nor will you parade down the high street in the nude. You won’t do anything that you would not do in your normal waking conscious state.
